Hidalgo County, the U.S. state of Texas with population of 774,769, is the eighth-most populous county in Texas. It is one of the fastest-growing counties in the United States. As per the mandatory decision of the Supreme Court of Texas to include all civil cases under eFiling, Hidalgo has been working to improve the paperless court system of the county by the end of this month.
In the course of making the transition of the court system more efficient and easy, Hidalgo County has announced to change the county’s current case management system to an integrated courts and justice system called Odyssey for providing a better eFiling platform for court cases. Odyssey, a court management system, is the software solution from one of the leading technological solution company, Tyler technologies, Inc.
Tyler Technologies’ Odyssey court management system is going live on Monday, August 3, 2015 which will modernize court processes and optimize resources. Odyssey will be the key factor to help Hidalgo County to establish paperless court system and is fully integrated with the state’s mandated eFiling platform for civil cases.
According to Hidalgo County Chief Information Officer Renan Ramirez’s point of view, it will also be helpful to eliminate redundant data entry, improve access to information across county departments, and simplify maintenance and support.
The change will be completed from July 27 through July 31 and may cause delays in the process during the transition period but the Texas e-file portal will not be affected during the transition to Odyssey.
“We request our customers, both internal and external, to be patient during this transition process, which will probably take no longer than a week,” said Ramirez.
During the transition period, community members will not be able to make payments at Justices of the Peace offices. Payments will continue to be accepted online at http://pay.hidalgocounty.us.
